Halle Swihart’s Clutch Hitting Propels Hanover-Horton Varsity Comets To Victory Over Vandercook Lake

Halle Swihart drove in four runs on three hits to lead Hanover-Horton Varsity Comets past Vandercook Lake 16-0 on Wednesday. Swihart hit a home run to left field in the first inning, scoring three runs, and doubled in the first inning, scoring two.

Hanover-Horton Varsity Comets won thanks in part to 16 runs in the first inning.  Swihart doubled, scoring two runs, Tori King was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Ryley Manning drew a walk, scoring one run, Maddy Sauber singled, scoring three runs, Ava Smith singled, scoring one run, Alexyn DuBois singled, scoring one run, Swihart homered to left field, scoring three runs, Manning drew a walk, scoring one run, and Sauber singled, scoring three runs.

DuBois earned the win for Hanover-Horton Varsity Comets. The righty gave up one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out seven and walking none. C Riddle took the loss for Vandercook Lake. The reliever went one and one-third innings, surrendering zero runs on one hit, striking out none and walking none. E Riddle began the game for Vandercook Lake. The pitcher gave up three hits and eight runs over one-third of an inning, striking out none and walking four.

Swihart and Smith each collected three hits for Hanover-Horton Varsity Comets. Sauber collected two hits for Hanover-Horton Varsity Comets in two at bats. Manning led Hanover-Horton Varsity Comets with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game. Smith stole two bases. Hanover-Horton Varsity Comets stole five bases in the game. Hanover-Horton Varsity Comets didn't commit a single error in the field. Swihart had the most chances in the field with seven.

Hanover-Horton Varsity Comets defeated Vandercook Lake 17-0 on Wednesday thanks in part to 17 runs in the first inning.  Halle Swihart was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Amanda Ley drew a walk, scoring one run, an error scored three runs, Tori King singled, scoring one run, Ava Smith doubled, scoring two runs, Brooklyn Biela grounded out, scoring one run, Swihart doubled, scoring two runs, Ley doubled, scoring one run, Holly Zantop singled, scoring one run, Maddy Sauber grounded out, scoring one run, and Smith singled, scoring three runs.

Ley earned the win for Hanover-Horton Varsity Comets. The pitcher gave up zero hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out six and walking none.

Swihart provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Hanover-Horton Varsity Comets with three runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Leadoff hitter Smith led Hanover-Horton Varsity Comets with two hits in two at bats. Hanover-Horton Varsity Comets had a strong eye at the plate, tallying 10 walks for the game.
